Houlakia Bay, on the Agios Ioannis road. Ten minutes on foot from Agios Stefanos, and a good deal further than it looks on a map.
Twelve minutes from Mykonos town, fifteen from the new port, twenty from the airport. The turn down to Houlakia is unsigned and easy to miss: it is the second right after the chapel, and steeper than it looks.
Taxis will bring you but do not wait at the bay. Tell us when you would like to leave and we will call one from the pass — on an August evening, well before dessert.
Bus 5 from Fabrika towards Agios Ioannis, off at the Houlakia stop, then twenty minutes down the path. Pleasant on the way there; less so at 23:30 on the way back.
From Agios Stefanos it is ten minutes along the coast path with one steep section. That is how most of our lunch guests arrive, and it is worth doing in daylight in both directions.
Yes, and before is better than after. Houlakia is a pebble bay, not a sand one — which is exactly why it stays quiet in August — and the afternoon wind comes across it hard from the north from about 15:00.
Behind Delos, between 19:45 and 20:35 depending on the month. The single dinner seating at 20:00 is timed to it, which is not an accident.
Nothing in particular, except that the deck is stone and open to the sea. After sunset in May and late September it is genuinely cool — bring the layer you think you will not need.
